I'd forgotten about this blog: kinda glad I stumbled back on it!
I enjoyed reading about our mornings back in March.
Nope: they haven't changed, except my daughter now sleeps in her bed until 6:30, when it is time to get up and get ready. We still have the pacifier, but we've bought a 'special box' to "Lock it away forever" when she's ready for that next big step. We told her No Later Than her next birthday: October. She'll be three.
We've given up those Cereal Bars. I looked closely at the amount of sugar in them and was appalled! Not quite a candy bar, but WOW!
Our sheltie is now on Thyroid meds. She has hypothyroidism. Big word, for sure! It means that she takes this tiny blue pill twice a day. She doesn't seem to mind.
Our cat killed a bird a few days ago. Obby left its carcass on the back porch: EW! Clearly a Kill-to-Kill, and not Kill-cuz-I'm-hungry. She is certainly a master hunter: squirrels, moles, mice, rats, birds... you name, we've had parts of it left on our back porch.
I promise I feed her EVERY day!

I hate the time changes. It means losing an hour of sleep, and I already don't get enough as it is...
Tonight, we had some friends over for dinner and a movie. A British film called "Hot Fuzz." Rather humorous,if not a bit gorry in one or two parts. All-in-all an enjoyable evening. Now, its time to crash, to be wakened in the pre-dawn light by my little darling, who LOVES to cuddle in the mornings!

TGIF!! I love Fridays. I love Saturdays even more... I'm looking forward to a wonderful weekend!
On our way home from school yesterday, the sun had just begun to peek from behind the clouds, and as we neared a hill, I spotted a beautiful rainbow.
"Look sweetie, a Rainbow! Do you see it?"
'A rainbow?...'
"THERE, out in front..."
I could tell she couldn't see it, so -after pissing off the driver behind me for turning in to the turn lane so suddenly (he shouldn't have been so close!)- I pulled into the parking lot of our Fairgrounds.
I then rolled down her window, "See, over there..."
'oh! Its blue!... and lellow'
"Yes, it is, what other colors do you see?"
'WHITE!' (yep, white clouds were beside it)
We sat there for about 5 minutes, before heading home to tell Daddy all about it.
What a WONDERFUL moment!

I hate rainy days. Today has not had any heavy rains, just a steady drizzle that makes you want to stay inside and read a good book.
As media specialist at the University level, I get to read books all the time! Granted, most of them are Childrens books of less than 12 pages, but I still get to steal moments here and there and enter another world.
My latest adventure was yesterday while waiting for a computer to reboot: Diary of a Wimpy Kid. I read the first 8 pages before this archaic computer did what it was supposed to, and MAN, what a great book!
I made myself put it down, or I'd have read the whole thing!

Trash Day: Dagnabit - I forgot to take my trash to the curb! I hate it when I do this, especially after I forgot last week too. Luckily, we're a low-trash family, but there's still some awful diapers and other un-niceties in there....
On with my post:
I'm in Education, and this morning, I'd been invited to participate in a Parent Panel with future teachers. The moderator asked 3 questions: 1)Whats the most important thing these guys need to know, 2) What is your pet-peeve, and 3) What is your #1 piece of advice.
Pretty heavy stuff for these sophomores. My answers were as follows:
1) Trust and connectivity. If I can't trust you as a teacher, then we've got problems. You need to love my child almost as much as I do.
2) Treating my child as if she's NOT an individual with opinions. Trust me: at 2 years old, she certainly has an opinion that should be respected, and she has a personality.
3) LOVE. And, treat your students as if they are your OWN children.
So, parents... what are YOUR answers?

Day 9: A day after I forgot to write yesterday...
I was doing so good writing a little everyday! But yesterday was an exhausting day, when I fell asleep by 8:30 PM.
When I logged on to my computer this morning, my lil heart sank as I thought that I might be out of the drawing for some of those really cool books.
Maybe our Two Writing Teachers can offer a Make-up assignment? You remember those: if you missed a day of class, you still had to do the work, but its just a little different....
What do you say?!?!?

Sunday
Man, what a fantastic day! My family and I went to the zoo. We saw the usual parade of animals: big cats, elephants, giraffes, birds, etc... We also went on a train ride (as my two year old says: ChuggaChugga CHOO CHOO). We even got to pet Stingrays!
Then, lunch at a locally owned Chinese restaurant, and the outlet mall. Our mall is a bit sad, really. Even in its prime, nearly 1/3 of its spaces were vacant, and its 'food court' was all of 3 places. Now, over 1/2 of the spaces are vacant, and even at Christmas, you can park near the front. I'm not sure how the place has stayed in business, but I'm glad it has! :)
Then, a stop at "America's Smallest Church!' NO, really! It can seat 12 people, and is smaller than my dad's storage shed. Its a beautiful church, surrounded by south Georgia Pines, and a stone statue of Jesus in the front. We decided to walk around the back, just out of curiosity, and -sadly- someone had dumped 2 bags of trash that had clearly been investigated by raccoons. If my little one wasn't with me, I would have been able to clear it, but not wanting her to bring home every germ known to man, I decided my monetary donation would have to suffice!
